THE PLAYS

Wicked Widows

Three women meet for lunch in strange circumstances. First of all, the hostess fails to appear. Secondly, they all turn out to be widows, one of them still grieving. Gradually, the purpose for the ‘surprise’ lunch becomes clear.

Written by Alan Hopgood from the research of Dr Susan Feldman.

Dr Susan Feldman interviewed eighty widows for her PhD thesis titled “More than a Dead Man’s Wife”. On seeing one of Alan Hopgood’s HealthPlays, she approached him to write one based on her findings. It remains a unique event in academia: a thesis coming to life on stage.

The play has toured widely and proved so popular that a Second Act was added to follow the later lives of the widows.

A Forum after the play, run by Dr Feldman, is optional.

Starring Jenny Seedsman or Babs McMillan, Kirsty Child and Margot Knight.

Wicked Widows is also available as a double bill with Never Too Old and as a two-act version suitable for commercial theatre.

Wicked and funny!

Wicked? Those three women are straight out of “Macbeth” – only funnier

We may not have provided you with your biggest audience but I doubt if you could have one with a more positive response! The feedback has been incredibly encouraging from absolutely everyone, with bookings already for ‘Six Degrees’ play next month. Best of all were the stories of women determined to return with husband in tow!
